Obituary for Raymond E. Robida

Raymond E. RobidaRaymond E. Robida, 78, of Biddeford died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Gosnell Hopice House in Scarborough after a long illness. He was born in Biddeford on March 5, 1934 a son of Thomas and Antoinette Pouliot Robida. He was educated Biddeford schools and attended St. Louis High School. In 1980 he received his GED* from Biddeford High School Adult Education.

Mr. Robida served with the US Navy during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he went to work at the Saco-Lowell Shop in Biddeford.

On October 5, 1957 he married Doris G. Bernier in St. Andre's Church in Biddeford. He moved to Springfield, MA where he worked 3 years with Hamilton Standard Co in Windsor Locks,CT. He worked at American Bosch Co. in Springfield, MA for 2 years. He returned to Maine in 1968. Here he worked and trained as an electrician with Paul Bernier Electrician of Westbrook for a few years. He later worked as an electrician at Saco Tanning Corp. in Saco and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME for 20 years retiring in 1990.

Raymond was a member of St. Joseph Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford, the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed dancing, woodworking, building furniture and birdhouses. He loved the outdoors and all its wild life.

12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews 

Visiting hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Hope Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at St. Joseph Church of The Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005.
